Join the Ashtanga Yoga Summer School in Groningen (21-24 August 2025) for an immersive experience in Mysore practice and hands-on adjustments. Learn to refine your touch, support energy flow, and empower yourself and others—for dedicated practitioners and those teaching (or wishing to teach)
Skillful, sensitive, and appropriate touch has the power to transport students to a deeper awareness of their practice and themselves. In yoga, the body understands so much without words—through touch, we can communicate spaciousness, alignment, and energy flow in ways that verbal cues alone cannot. A well-placed adjustment offers guidance rather than force, creating more ease, direction, and release from unnecessary tension. Even if you are not a teacher, developing the skill of hands-on adjustments and understanding energy flow will give you profound insight into your own practice, helping you move with greater awareness, stability, and ease.
This four-day immersive training is designed for dedicated Ashtanga practitioners and those who (want to) teach and want to refine their own practice while learning how to offer safe, empowering, and effective hands-on adjustments.
Daily Schedule:
7.00-9.00AM: Ashtanga Mysore Yoga practice
10.30AM-3.30PM (with a break) – Comprehensive Adjustment Training
During the Comprehensive Adjustment Training you will:
- Learn and refine hands-on adjustments for each posture in the Primary Series
- Develop a keen eye for alignment and energetic flow, recognizing where support is needed
- Explore different variations to meet students where they are, without forcing or overcorrecting
- Understand the energetic alignment of postures and how adjustments can create space for healing
- Learn the ethical principles of hands-on adjustments, ensuring safety, respect, and consent
- Discover how to guide without taking away the student’s own process of learning and discovery
Maxi will work personally with each participant. The teaching language is English with possibility to translate into Dutch and or German (here and there).
The group size is limited to 10 participants to ensure full attention to each participant.

Maxi’s Approach to Offering Yoga Adjustments
With over 15 years of experience in teaching with hands-on adjustments and somatic coaching, Maxi’s approach is rooted in respect, sensitivity, and empowerment. Rather than pushing students into a pose, she works with their natural capacity, creating space for self-awareness and growth. A skillful adjustment should be safe, supportive, and transformative—helping the student release unnecessary tension (also mental) and find more ease in their body and breath.
This training will give you a profound understanding of adjustments as a tool for healing. You will leave with a refined awareness of how to communicate through touch, recognize energetic blockages, and facilitate a deeper experience of the practice for yourself and others.
Whether you join to enhance your teaching or to deepen your own Ashtanga practice, this program will offer a rich, immersive experience of the Primary Series honoring tradition and individual needs of each student.
Prerequisites:
An established Ashtanga Mysore Yoga practice, being proficient with the primary series at least until navasana (proficient meaning you can lead yourself through the practice until then, it doesn’t mean that you have to be able to bind in mari C, for example). My comprehensive Adjustment Training is always insightful and valuable for participants as they receive a lot of new input and perspective, not just about teaching to different bodies but also about their very own yoga practice.
It’s always amazing to hear (and foremost see) how through experiencing the appropriate adjustment participants feel less restricted in their body and breath but more stable while they understand “how to do” more from within rather than with their heads.

-Observe different bodies and where unnecessary tension or breath is held or the body “doesn’t know”
