This morning was our last Mysore practice in our old shala.

And what an amazing eight years we had in our beautiful space!!☺️🙏🏼💛

So, yes! I was a little emotional this morning and the energy in the shala definitely shifted into transition mode.

I’m so grateful for what we build and created here together in our community 💛 the special Bhumi Yoga vibe resonates with so many of you, so many of you feel at home in our community, the way yoga is taught and lived here at Bhumi Yoga. This we carry forward and take with us to our new shala ☺️🙏🏼

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has taken practice with me here over the years and who was a part of making this such a special place.

So… tomorrow is a special last guided practice: Chandra Krama 🌕🌘🌗🌖🌕 before we close this door.

And…🥁 very exciting: On a Monday we start a new chapter and open the doors to our new beautiful, serene and spacious space.

Can’t wait to see you at practice in our new space. And for this new chapter🌱🌸.

More simple life for me not owning a shala, where I can just focus on teaching and being there for my community, renting space from @yogawieteke supporting each other (and our communities) ❤️🙏🏼

👀 A sneak peek into our new beautiful practice space 🧘🏽🧘‍♀️🙏🏼

👉🏼Our first practice in this wonderful space is on Monday, March 27!

From then onwards, this is where we will hold our:
✅Ashtanga Mysore Yoga Morning practice (Mondays-Fridays)
✅Our Workshops
✅Ashtanga Intensive Days
✅and the 12.5 year Bhumi Yoga anniversary celebration (23/4) 🥳

✨I‘m just so happy to move to @yogawieteke ‘s beautiful and well-cared for yoga shala and that we can rent space for our yoga community to take practice here.

✨I can’t wait for you to see and experience practice in our new serene practice environment at 👉🏼Oosterhamriklaan 261a in Groningen.

In our new space we will have:
✅a bigger practice space in a very calm room
✅a separate changing room with lockers (not shown in this reel)
✅a relaxed and spacious area to drink tea and sit, come together and share with community
✅a toilet room that is NOT adjacent 😇 to the practice room as in our „old“ space (not shown in this reel)
✅a good equipped kitchen (not shown in this reel)
✅free parking until 9.30am
✅and not essential but a bonus: a florist and a grocery store next door

And, of course, we will take the good Bhumi Yoga atmosphere with us 🙏🏼

I really look forward to this move, a beautiful new step for us.

📣Our first practice in our new space is on Monday, March 27 🌱🌼

I can’t wait for you to see and experience practice in our new serene practice environment at Oosterhamriklaan 261a in Groningen.

The space itself was created and belongs to Wieteke van Meer from @yogawieteke . From 27/3 I will be renting her beautifil space for our morning classes, intensives and workshops.

Wieteke and I know each other from our early yoga teaching day. We both rented space for our yoga classes from Mien at Studio Moesstraat and soon started to have a coffee and chats together, talking about all things yoga and life. This goes back to 2010... and it's beautiful how we can support each other now in this way.

I really look forward to this new era and our community taking practice and evolving in Wieteke’s beautiful studio.

To get you a little idea....in our new space we will have:
✨a bigger practice space in a very calm room 😇
✨a separate changing room with lockers
✨a relaxed and spacious area to drink tea and sit, come together and share with community 🍵
✨a toilet room that is NOT adjacent to the practice room 🤩🙏🏼as in our "old" space (in our old shala, I feel some of you don't dare to go to the toilet because of it's proximity to people practicing and possible sounds 😳)
✨a good equipped kitchen
✨free parking until 9.30am
✨and not essential but a bonus: a florist and a grocery store next door

🎊🎉What's also exciting is that we will hold the 12.5 year anniversary of Bhumi Yoga in our new space. It will be a great day of enjoying each other's company and celebrating together enjoying our new space.

✨Our last practice in our old shala will be a very special practice to honor the beautiful times we had in this space.

Eventhough, I am really looking forward to moving to our new space, this last class also marks the farewell of a wonderful era, before we take the good Bhumi energy to our new space.

✨More details about this special last practice:
Chandra Krama, or the Moon Sequence, is an alternative therapeutic Vinyasa Krama sequence accessible to students of all traditions, also beginners.

This self-care class begins with breath work. From there we transition into a gentle vinyasa flow, moving slowly deeper while bringing continuous awareness to the breath and inner sensations, relaxing and soothing the nervous system. We finish with a series of nurturing restorative poses.

This self-care class is for everyone who wants to feel:
✅more calm instead of overwhelmed
✅more present and at home in their body and mind
✅rejuvenated after a busy work week
✅more focused to live their best life possible
✅empowered

This self-care class is suitable for all levels of yoga practitioners, and is also a great practice for all Mysore Practitioners to join!

Make sure to arrive both at the shala by 6.55am so there is enough time to set yourself up!

📣We are approaching the last 2.5 weeks (!!) of practice in our old shala at the Damsterdiep. The period of transition, linking from one to the other, a vinyasa, is in full progress behind the scenes.

And what an amazing energy we have created together in our shala at the Damsterdiep over the last 8 years!!

A big thank you to everyone who has shaped the good atmosphere in our beloved space 🙏🏼🧡 looking back at these 8 years brings a big smile to my face.

The next month will be very special: I look forward to enjoying the last practices together in our old shala and also am really excited to welcoming all of you to our new practice space soon.

Who can practice Ashtanga Mysore Yoga and are ther

Who can practice Ashtanga Mysore Yoga and are there any requirement to join practice?

Answer: Everybody can practice Mysore Yoga. And there are no requirements / pre-requisites to join practice.

And.... You can be a complete beginner to yoga. It’s actually wonderful to be a complete beginner to yoga and start in the Mysore Yoga system 🌱

Infact, practicing yoga in the Ashtanga Mysore method is a very safe and super sweet way of learning yoga, to be in your practice and progress.

And this is because of the very personal, 1-on-1 approach to practice.

So you are not just one of many in a group.

You don’t just follow what everybody is doing.

And you don’t have to do anthing that may not agree with your body and (life) circumstances.

In the Mysore Room the teacher really works with YOU.

Important:
You don’t have to be strong and you don’t have to be flexible.
Practice is adapted to your needs, so it’s harmonious and agreeable for you.

Aaaand: You don’t need to know anything about the sequence!!

So often I hear people saying “Oh, before I join a Mysore class I really have to study / know the sequence...”.

NO! YOU DON’T HAVE TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT YOGA, OR MYSORE YOGA, OR “THE SEQUENCE” BEFORE YOU START.

Just show up for practice, because it’s in the Mysore Room that I as a teacher teach you. That’s my job. It’s DURING the practice that you experience the sequence - actually not “the” sequence BUT your sequence as it’s customized to you.

It’s a very sweet way of learning and practicing yoga.

👋🏼Hi, I’m Maxi and I’m the founder of Bhumi Yoga.

Bhumi Yoga is a yoga school in Groningen and we’ve been here since 2010. What we do at Bhumi Yoga is quite special and unique in Groningen.

How? Because our very personal approach to teaching and the way yoga is practiced, and lived, at our yoga school.

When you practice at Bhumi Yoga, you receive a lot of personal guidance.

So you are not just one of many in a group.
At Bhumi Yoga I support you to develop your practice step-by-step according to YOUR needs, body, circumstances with my 1-on-1 guidance.

Some call it yoga coaching in a group.

So everyone here at Bhumi Yoga has their own yoga practice. This allows my students to really cultivate an inward focus in their yoga, they don’t follow something that’s not agreeable for them. Inward focus is something missing so much these days with all these distractions “out there”..

My main method of teaching is embedded in the Ashtanga Mysore Yoga method. Yet I also weave in restorative yoga, pranayama, vinyasa krama, Ayurveda and coaching, as seems fitting for whom I work with.

This way I can support my students to develop a harmonious, agreeable, safe and sustainable practice, regardless of age, how the body presents and other factors that may be present in life. No two bodies & situations are the same.

We work together so your yoga can really benefit and support your life, and is really YOUR practice.
