Fashion Statement: The Mysore Yoga Towel ⚡️💃🏼
So what’s the thing about the towel?

First of all, by all means, I’m not trying to make a fashion statement here 😁

The Mysore towel can be part of the teaching attire. And it’s practical for teaching to have it wrapped around one’s waist, and this can be done in various ways. This way I can easily unwrap the towel to use it for an adjustment, and also to wipe my hands dry (true thing). 

I find the towel a super efficient and practical tool that I use quite a lot when teaching.

It’s very practical and helpful for some of the 1-on-1 work and hands on adjustments.

And moreover it prevents me from taking one practitioner’s sweat💦 (yes, sweat can happen, it’s not a bad thing, and some of us may release more than others) to the next. And it’s also just nice to wipe my own hands 😎🙌

I also welcome every practitioner to bring their own towel for adjustments. It’s super helpful for me 👌🏼

And if the towel was a fashion statement… how do you like it? 😎⬇️

Today I already shared my reflections of 2022 and what’s ahead for the new year with everyone who’s subscribed to my newsletter. 

It was a magical year with you at the yoga school and a year of tremendous inner growth for me.

Next week I will take a mini vacation in the woods 🌲🦆 and enjoy a bit more quiet time.

Oh boy, this has really been a struggle for me: H Oh boy, this has really been a struggle for me: 
Holding space for our awesome community weekday mornings, of course, I also decide that I don’t share much (or often any) time (and cuddles) with my sweet boy early mornings. And mornings are really special times to share together.

I could write a lot about what kind of feels and inner struggles this has presented me with…  motherhood (parenthood) is really something. Something special. And a mother’s guilt is also real. 

I’m so grateful I took time this year and have worked on shedding some deep-rooted old beliefs and layers (thanks to SE). Grateful to also have had the support of to good friends from afar who really understand my situation (are mothers and hold Mysore communities, too… hello @emmashtanga ❤️ @maryoga.berlin). 

The things is: My relation to my sweet boy is very dear to me and my work at the yoga school and helping so many find a better inner space and stability, is too. 

The inner work and journeys I took this year let me realize:

•That my schedule allows me to share a lot of quality time with my son while most people are still in the office (a lot of times I could only just see that I’m not there in the mornings - now I can also see that I’m there lots during the other times of the day or night. A change in perspective, really)

•That through me being away in the morning, Jonah and his dad have the most valuable bonding time. They are so sweet together. And I’m so happy for this. Not every child has such a special relation to his/her dad.

•My work in our community really matters to me. It adds to my purpose, I love what I do and what I witness happening through my work . It also teaches Jonah lots about that mama has a role outside the house.

•I have a great support in my partner.

Now on Wednesdays and some Fridays Jonah will join class for the last 10-15min and the clean up and fun after class (as my partner needs to go to his work) - and I love this time with Jonah in the shala.

ONE STEP AT A TIME The stomach flu last week real ONE STEP AT A TIME

The stomach flu last week really kicked my butt. Taking it more easy this week. Back in the shala teaching and just taking my practice after teaching (instead of before) to get a bit more extra rest during these dark days.

Let’s face it this can be a super stressful period for many. The days are shorter, but many feel there’s still so much that needs to get done before the end of the year, work and social obligations pile up, and perhaps you even “have to” travel… 

I know many of you are affected by the combination of darker days + work stress + festivities and feel tired or sick right now. 

My inbox reflects this and is quite filled with practitioners writing they are tired or sick. 

Hope you can allow yourself to take it a little slower and give yourself space and some stillness instead of hassling “to get everything done right now”. 

I decided to shift gears this week. And although there’s still a lot to “get done” in my agenda, I will really take my time and make sure I anchor myself, give myself a bit more space and find joy in the small things.

Today I also slowly started my practice again after 5 days of being knocked out. Taking it slow,  bit by bit and just a little. 

So good to be without a headache, nausea, be able to breathe through my nose and to feel myself again.

Give yourself space!

I’m still teaching tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday this week for this year. Hope to see you!

🎄✨This made my today: the Christmas presents 🎄✨This made my today: the Christmas presents for all our Bhumi yogis arrived from @greengivingnl 

The last two days have been a little rough😃 as I’m down with the stomach flue, not fit, taking care of my boy alone (until tonight) and sad to cancel our Xmas potluck tomorrow due to not being fit (another time). So, this package arriving made me smile.

A willingness to learn. Otherwise, please just come as you are.

👉🏼There is nothing you already need to know about yoga or Mysore yoga before you start. 

👉🏼You don’t need to be flexible nor strong. 

👉🏼No need to wear a fancy outfit (unless you want to). 

✔️Just come as you are, and we will teach you step-by-step. 

👉🏼At our yoga school, we work with you 1-on-1 in group. Your practice will be self-paced according to your capacity. 

👉🏼We offer a consistent schedule of 5 mornings a week (see story highlights for our schedule).
